William Vitcenda Obituary

William Henry Vitcenda, age 84, of Hayward, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019 at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital.  He was born May 27, 1934 in Eau Claire, WI the son of Raymond and Emma (Albrecht) Vitcenda.  He was united in marriage to Judith Ann Hustvet on May 5, 1963 in Minong, WI.

William grew up on his parent’s farm near Exeland and Radisson Wisconsin.  He graduated from Bruce High School in 1952 and played on the high school baseball, basketball and football teams.

In his youth, William enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing area league baseball.  In his adult years, he enjoyed listening to Bob Uecker announce Milwaukee Brewers baseball games and listening to Green Bay Packers games.  His favorite vacation spot was the Black Hills of South Dakota.

William proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

William retired from GTE Phone Company after 30 years.  He then worked at Thompson Sand and Gravel in Hayward for almost 26 years.

William was an excellent father to his sons.  

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judith of Hayward; his sons, Warren H. Vitcenda of White Bear Lake, MN and Darrel J. Vitcenda of Hayward; and many dear relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Vitcenda.

A committal service with full military honors will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
