Willard Dean Kiefer Jr., age 87, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022 at his residence in Lake Nebagamon, WI. He was born on October 17, 1934 in Richland Center, WI, the son of Willard and Gladys (Kraak) Kiefer. He was united in marriage to Mary Beth Michalski.
Willard was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Forestry and had a long career with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. He was an avid outdoorsman who absolutely loved to fish. Willard was always active and generous with his time, volunteering through the Lake Nebagamon Lion’s Club, Trinity Lutheran Church and various departments of the Highland Township. He was also a member of the Lake Nebagamon Lake Association.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Beth “Bunny” Kiefer of Lake Nebagamon, WI; his children, Kurt Kiefer of Lonsdale, MN, Kevin Kiefer of Champlin, MN, Kelly (Carl) Miller of Pacific Grove, CA and Kyle Kiefer of Apple Valley, MN; his granddaughter, Michaela Miller; his in-laws, Tom and Nola Michalski of Park Falls, WI, Jill Ellinger of Park Falls, WI, Ron and Peg Baroka of Minocqua, WI and Carol Kiefer of Reedsburg, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Willard is preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne in infancy, Jim; his sister-in-law, Velma; and nephews, Tim Kiefer and Rob Michalski.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11416 E First Street N in Lake Nebagamon, WI, where visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service. A reception will follow at the church.
