Troy Rasmussen Obituary

Troy Allen Rasmussen, age 55, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born on February 24, 1967, in Stevens Point, WI, the son of Dennis Andry and Sandra Lou (Kramer) Rasmussen.  He was united in marriage to Debra Joanne Edwards on July 18, 1992, in Cable, WI.

Troy’s first love was playing and working in the woods.  He also loved his over the road, long haul coast to coast career with Kivi Bros. Trucking Inc.  Troy was an avid hunter, favoring both deer and grouse hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Debra “Deb” Rasmussen of Hayward; his son, Forrest Rasmussen, and daughter, Andrea (Dusty Kingfisher) Rasmussen, both of Hayward; his grandchildren, Nathan, Johnnie, and Jesse; his parents, Dennis and Sandi Rasmussen of Cable; his sister, Tami Busterud of Merrill; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and forever best friend, uncle Kris Rasmussen.

A special thanks to Larry Ludzack, Don Ludzack, uncles Kris and Mark Rasmussen, aunt Angie Manthey and Krystal Ranch for visiting prior to Troy’s passing.  Special honors go to his beloved “Trucking Buddy”, his dog, Bandit, the co-pilot and passenger who sat daily protecting Troy’s Big Rig #509.

Special thanks to his daughter, Andrea, his loving caregiver.  Troy Chaon, Director at Bratley-Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory.   The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Dawn and Ann from hospice for Troy’s wonderful and supportive care.

Private family services and Celebration of Life will be at a later date.

Troy’s dream was to retire to Santa Maria, California.  A destination he loved on his journeys from coast to coast.  To Santa Maria he will go……….  “Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not!”

Troy enjoyed his 34 hours downtime; however, “I can deal with high wind and hard rain, 4-wheelers and slow lanes, black ice and deep snow, but don’t leave me sitting in a truck stop with nowhere to go!”  “Keep me loaded!”  “If the wheels ain’t turning, I ain’t earning!”  “So you think I’m just a truck driver, 13 gears, 18 wheels, 65 ft. long, 500 horsepower, 1800 lbs. of torque – you do the math!”  “Please protect our drivers as they risk their life on the highway making a living for their families!”  “I’ll sleep when I’m done trucking!”  said Trucker Troy – Big Rig #509.

Memorials (donations) may be made to Regional Hospice Services & Palliative Care, 15910 W Company Lake Road, Suite 3, Hayward WI 54843.
