Thomas John Helsing

Thomas John “Tom” Helsing, age 78, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Oakwood Health Services in Altoona, WI.  He was born February 25, 1941 in Ladysmith, WI, the son of John and Leota (Statton) Helsing.  He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Josephine “Liz” Dahlstrom on October 3, 1964. 

Tom loved the outdoors. He owned a logging business for many years.  After retiring from logging he ran the Ojibwa Service Station. He loved woodworking, especially with Birdseye Maple, and driving his Gator around his property. Much to the dismay of his daughters, Tom sold firewood and put his daughters to work; splitting, hauling and stacking the firewood.  Tom and his wife Liz attended church at Calvary Lutheran Church in Loretta, WI.

He is survived by his five daughters, Tracy Norrbohm, Linda Anderson, Lisa (Scott) Bastian, Michelle (Frank Prosecky) Helsing, and Melissa (Jason) Shaffer; and twelve grandchildren, Nichole, Samantha, Ryan, Natalie, Cooper, Ben, Ian, Isaiah, Campbell, Abigail, Alivia, Alexis, great grandson, Jordan, sister Gracie Heath, any many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife Liz; his son-in-law, Rick; his granddaughter, Elizabeth; his brothers, Larry and Harley.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Loretta, WI where visitation will be held at 3:00 until the hour of the service.  Interment will be held privately.
