Thomas Eugene Ferris, age 86 of Shell Lake, WI, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the Indianhead Medical Center in Shell Lake, WI.
Tom was born on August 1, 1936, in Harvard, IL. to Henry and Margerie Northrup Ferris. In 1941 Margerie died in a car accident. After some years Henry married Elizabeth Boehman and they moved to Williams Bay, WI.
Tom attended Williams Bay Public School. In high school Tom was a good athlete. He played football, basketball, and baseball. Tom was inducted into the 1st Williams Bay Hall of Fame for Sports. After high School Tom attended Lincoln College in Lincoln, IL.
Tom's real passion was sailing. He began sailing a Cub boat at the age of 9 and then Tom sailed an E boat at the Lake Geneva Yacht Club. He also participated in the Inland Yachting Association Racing.
In 1959 he joined Ferris Brothers Chevrolet and Buick. After a few years, Tom had his own dealership selling Chevrolet and Oldsmobile for many years. In 1987 at a class reunion Tom met Linda Livingston and they were married in 1988. He worked at "The Potter's Shed" for a few years. Tom was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and former member of the Wms. Bay Lions Club for 25 years. Tom represented them when they raced cars in Lake Geneva.
Tom was a kind and generous man and was always willing to help a neighbor, friend, or stranger. He loved his children dearly.
Tom is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Thomas, Holly, Heidi, and Karin Livingston; and grandchildren, Amber, Jeffrey, Ashley, and Audrey.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Millicent Ferris; parents, Henry, Margerie, and Elizabeth; Uncle Phil (Allice) Ferris; and cousins.
Services will be Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spooner, WI, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation an hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date in Harvard, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Washburn County Alzheimer’s " Happy Days Club" at 1790 Scribner Street, Spooner, WI 54801.
