Theresa M. (Mika) Karpowicz

Theresa M. Karpowicz, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Tamarack Health in Hayward, WI.  She was born on May 9, 1935, in Hayward, WI, the daughter of Thaddeus and Angeline (Plys) Mika.  She was united in marriage to Edward S. Karpowicz on May 29, 1954, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward.

Theresa was born and raised in the Hayward area and a graduate of Hayward High School.  She was the proud owner of Honeybee Crafts in Ojibwa for several years.  During that time, she also served as the Postmaster for the Ojibwa Postal Service.  She loved music and had a wonderful singing voice.  Theresa was a devout Catholic and sang with the St. Joseph Choir.  She enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle and spent a lot of time doing cross stitch and other crafts.

She is survived by her son, Steven (Emily) Karpowicz of Hayward, WI; her granddaughter, Stephanie Karpowicz of Las Vegas, NV; her sister, Rosalie Sheptick of Hayward, WI; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Theresa is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Karpowicz; her grandson, Jerry Karpowicz; and her brothers, Ted and George Mika. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Hayward Funeral Home, 15571 W County Highway B in Hayward where a rosary will follow at 7:00 P.M.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 10586 Dakota Avenue in Hayward, where visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of Mass.  Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
