Susan Brannan Obituary

Susan Elaine Brannan, age 73, a resident of Wascott, WI, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 14 at the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, Minnesota.

Sue was born on April 25, 1947 to Art and Lydia Simonsen of Superior.  She married Charles (Chuck) Brannan on November 12, 1971.  Together they raised his four children, Wayne, Darryl, Kim and Rodney Brannan.   Sue never considered them “stepchildren”.   She loved them as her own. Sue and her husband lived in Whiting,  Indiana (near Chicago) until 2005, when they moved permanently to their vacation home in Wascott.  She was a member for many years of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Minong.

Sue served as secretary/treasurer for the Burlington Northern Employee's Club for many years, spearheading such events as the annual BN Picnic at Billings Park, and a holiday dinner dance.  She also loved to play Bunko and, in fact, played on two different leagues each month.  Her other passion was playing cards, especially Rummy, Cribbage, and Canasta.

Sue is survived by her husband, Charles Brannan; three children, Wayne, Darryl and Rodney Brannan of Maple, WI; a sister, Jean Black of Wascott, WI ; a brother, Robert Simonsen of Barnes, WI; and one sister-in-law, Peggy Sislo, of South Range.  She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kim; her mother and father, Art and Lydia Simonsen; a sister, Barbara Carlson; and a nephew, Glen Carlson Jr.

Funeral services and interment will be delayed until spring.
