Shirley Boyle, age 88 of Hayward, WI passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at her home.
Shirley Ann was born October 26, 1935, in Chicago Heights, IL the daughter of Lorenzo “Al” and Rose (Chisser) Simmons. Shirley was raised in the Chicago area until her teen years when she moved with her family to Hayward, WI. Shirley worked as a telephone operator for a time and helped her father at his store, Simmons Grocery. On March 18, 1955, Shirley was joined in marriage to Tharen James “Jim” Boyle at the Congregational Church in Hayward. At the time of the marriage, Jim was in the military and the young couple moved to wherever Jim was stationed. After Jim’s time in the military, they moved back to Hayward where Shirley was a homemaker raising their five children. Shirley enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and traveling out west while camping. She loved her grandchildren dearly.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jim; four children, Barb Boyle of Mason, OH, Mark (Cynthia) Boyle, Hayward, James (Becky) Boyle, Hayward, Susan Boyle of Rodgers, MN; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one brother, Scott (Nina) Simmons; one sister, Joan (Jerry) Berard; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Christopher Boyle, and one granddaughter, Jennifer.
At this time no public services are planned for Shirley.
