Sandra Winifred Sheehan, age 77, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, March 9, 2026, at her residence in Hayward, WI. She was born on November 12, 1948, in Duluth, MN, the daughter of Stanley and Goodrun (Johnson) Laska. She was united in marriage to Donald Wayne Sheehan on February 8, 1969, at First Lutheran Church in Hayward, WI.
Sandy had the pleasure of working at a few local businesses but worked the longest at People’s National Bank, finishing as the Assistant Loan Officer. She was very proud of her husband’s military service and was a dedicated member of the Hayward VFW Women’s Auxiliary. Sandy loved living in Hayward and going for rides through the Northwoods with her husband. She enjoyed scrapbooking, making cards, baking and taking care of her many lovely flower beds. Most of all, Sandy loved her family and cherished her time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Donald Sheehan of Hayward, WI; her children, Julie (Billy) Zawistowski of Stone Lake, WI, Jon (Lisa) Sheehan of Stanberry, WI, and Jenny Sheehan of Hayward, WI; her grandchildren, Willy, Annabelle, Alison, Bethany, Jake, Bodie and Terra; her great-grandson, Elijah; her siblings, Carol Knudson of Hayward, WI, Jim Laska of Minong, WI, Lynn (Matt) Fitch of Hayward, WI and Lori Suchanek of Madison, WI; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Sandy is preceded in death by her sister, Chris Somerville; and her brothers-in-law, Bob Somerville and Roger Knudson.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at First Lutheran Church in Hayward, WI. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M. at the church with Pastor Joel Bacon and Pastor Gary Hilgendorf officiating. Interment will be held privately.
