Ryan Casey Johnson, age 56, of Webb Lake, passed away on December 17, 2025, at Spooner Health in Spooner, WI. He was born on July 21, 1969, in Duluth, MN, the son of Larry and Sharon (Pappas) Johnson.
Ryan was a graduate of Sartell High School near St. Cloud, MN, and later attended college in both Brainerd and Chicago. He worked as a conductor for Burlington Northern Railroad and then as an engineer for the Canadian National Railway. To fulfill his adventurous spirit, Ryan also fought wildfires out west and worked on fishing boats hunting halibut off the coast of Alaska. Eventually, he settled in the Webb Lake area and co-founded Lock John Exteriors, providing siding, windows, and insulation throughout northwest Wisconsin.
Ryan loved the outdoors and everything the Northwoods had to offer, canoeing local rivers and streams, golfing, ATVing, boating, swimming, and snowmobiling. He lived life his way, independent and strong-willed, with a stubborn streak that made him unforgettable. Ryan was funny and charming, able to light up any room with his humor and warmth. He cared deeply for his family and had an incredible group of friends who meant the world to him. If someone needed help, Ryan was there without hesitation. He embodied independence, resilience, and compassion.
He is survived by his mom, Sharon Kiley of Webb Lake, WI; his father, Larry (Paula) Johnson of Superior, WI; his brother, Matthew Johnson of Webb Lake, WI; his sister, Amy (Jeff Dugdale) Johnson of St. Louis Park, MN; his nephews, Tyler Johnson and Travis Spencer; his great-nephew, Julien Johnson; and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his aunt, Linda Lofdahl, and his uncles, Tim Johnson, Marc Johnson, and Jeff Pappas.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
