Ronald Hodd Obituary

Ronald C. Hodd, age 78, of Hayward, WI passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at his home.

Ronald Charles Hodd was born August 13, 1943, in Hayward, WI the son of Roy and Evelyn (Martinson) Hodd one of nine siblings. Ronald was raised in Hayward and graduated from Hayward High School in 1962. On November 30, 1962, Ronald joined the U.S. Army and served at Hickam Field in Hawaii where he was a mechanic on helicopters and jeeps. While stationed in Hawaii, Ron met Rosemary Willis Dale. He was honorably discharged on November 24, 1965. Ronald returned Hayward. On May 14, 1966, Ron was married to Rose Dale in Hayward. He owned Northstar Gas Station in 1967 and later worked with Mike Keene Construction as a carpenter for several years. Ron then took a job with the Department of Natural Resources State Tree Nursery where he operated heavy equipment. With his love for the outdoors, Ron enthusiastically became involved in his new job of which primary consisted of planting trees. He planted trees on his own property after work. He retired from the DNR in 2010. Ron enjoyed operating the horse ranch at his home which allowed him to work on his farming equipment and trucks and train horses. He also enjoyed ice fishing.

Ron is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rose; daughter, Susan Hodd of Hayward; son, Troy Hodd of Hayward; one loving grandson, Garret; seven siblings, Ethel (Monty) Morse of Hayward, Glen (Pat) Hodd of White Bear Lake, MN, Muriel (John) Tschida of Stacey, MN, Roy Hodd Jr. of White Bear Lake, MN, Ricky (Sherri) Hodd of White Bear Lake, MN; Marlys (Jeff) Robbins of Medford, OR, Thomas (Key) Hodd of Austin Texas; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald Hodd.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held for Ronald in June at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI with Pastor Gary Hilgendorf officiating.
