Robert J. Wood

Robert J. Wood, age 71, of Hayward, WI passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at his home. 

Robert James Wood was born November 19, 1947 in Cicero, IL the son of Lawrence and Helen (Pojak) Wood.  He was raised in Berwyn and graduated from J. Sterling Morton High School.  On March 15, 1968, Robert joined the U.S. Air Force where he served as a computer operations manager.  Robert served for 22 years and earned the Meritorious Service Award at his retirement.  Robert was honorably discharged on February 28, 1990 as a technical sergeant.  He went onto college at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville where he received a bachelors of science degree in sociology in 1995.  Robert moved to Hayward, WI and worked in several different areas including with the LCO Casino and operating his own lawn business. On April 19, 2005, Robert was joined in marriage to Arlene Raskie in Hayward.  Bob enjoyed golfing, building and collecting motorized airplanes.  He was very giving individual. He supported local law enforcement and the church.

Bob is survived by his wife, Arlene; two children, Brian (Apirl) Wood, Laura McDonald; three grandchildren, Brett, Zach and Cody; one great granddaughter; one stepson, Michael (Belinda) Raskie; three step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Wood; and one nephew. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Wood.

A private graveside service will be held for Bob with military honors at the Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.
