Robert K. Sorensen

Robert Kenneth Sorensen, age 79, of Trego, WI, passed away on July 21st, surrounded by those who loved him most.

Bob was born on April 8, 1947, and grew up on a small farm in Spooner, WI. After graduating from Spooner High School, he attended North Dakota State University, where he served as president of the TKE fraternity and earned a mechanical engineering degree in 1969. It was in Fargo that Bob met Debbie, beginning the love story that would shape the rest of his life.

Bob spent his entire professional career at Honeywell, retiring after 30 years to his home on the Namekagon. Back in the north woods where he belongs, he built lifelong friendships with the River Rats and was able to watch his grandchildren grow up on the water. Bob loved everything outdoors – hunting, fishing, boating – being outside is where he felt truly at home. His most cherished memories are hunting with his family, he was so proud to share this tradition with Mike, Alex and nephew Jon.

Bob loved his life and he loved living it. He was a ride or die sports fan (Twins, Packers, Wild, Gophers) and shared that passion watching his kids and grandkids compete and perform. The hole he has left in our hearts will never be filled, but we are forever thankful for all of the memories.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth; mother, Zelda; brother, Jim; and sister, Karie.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Debbie; daughter, Amy (Alex) Wheaton; son, Mike (Tara); five beloved grandchildren, Zachary, Caitlyn, Jace, Isabel, and Rachel; brother, Larry (Lori); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family sends its heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff at St. Lukes. 

A celebration of Bob’s incredible life will be held at the Shell Lake Beach House (200 W Lake Dr, Shell Lake, WI 54871) on Friday, July 31st from 1 to 4 pm.
