Raymond L (Sr.) Cross

Raymond LeRoy Cross Sr. of Spooner, WI, passed away June 13, 2022.

Ray was born September 30, 1967, in Hayward, WI, to parents, Lloyd and Arlene (Chaffey) Cross. Ray graduated from Shell Lake High School and left to join the U.S. Air Force immediately after graduation. While stationed in Oscoda, MI, Ray met Stephanie Kalakay and soon fell in love with both her and her son, Dusten. After his four years with the military, the couple moved to Spooner, WI, and Ray began work at Louisiana-Pacific where he worked in multiple departments for over 30 years. The couple had another child, Raymond Jr., on January 12, 1991, and on December 31, 1999, Ray and Stephanie were united in marriage.

Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing but most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie; his sons, Dusten (Carissa Gerhardt) Kalakay and Raymond (Olivia Gage) Cross Jr.; grandsons, Carsen James Kalakay and Hudsen Paul Kalakay; parents, Lloyd and Arlene Cross; siblings, Lloyd Cross Jr., Mary Ann (Michael) England, Michel Cross, and William Henry Cross; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his Grandmother and Grandfather Cross, Grandmother Olson, Grandfather Chaffey, and uncle, Robert Chaffey.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Spooner. A celebration of life will follow at the American Legion in Spooner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
