Patrick James Hover

Patrick James Hover left us too soon on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the age of 38.  He was born on September 6, 1987, in Rice Lake, WI, the son of Greg and Mary (Bach) Hover.  He was united in marriage to Alyssa Rae Koerner on January 18, 2025, in Spooner, WI.  

Pat was a graduate of Barron High School.  Prior to graduating from high school, Pat enjoyed being involved in Boy Scouts and the Barron Youth Hockey Association.

Pat had an entrepreneurial spirit at an early age when he started Pat’s Seasonal Maintenance, specializing in installing docks and lifts. He later created Extreme Landscapes and Northwoods Bridge where his artistic talent and unique construction capabilities led to the construction of the Birkie Bridge over Highway 77, just outside of Hayward.  Pat was also instrumental in building the Kawabaming Observation Tower at Mount Telemark in Cable, which was constructed using the repurposed steel of a ski lift from the former downhill slope.  Pat also built several biking and walking boardwalk bridges in the Vilas County, WI area.  There are many homes on Long Lake and all over Washburn, Sawyer & Barron counties showing his beautiful and unique work.

Pat was a true outdoorsman and loved the life he built in the Northwoods.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating with his family and friends.  He was very proud of the home he built on the property he purchased when he was just twenty-one years old.  Pat enjoyed developing trails, food plots, and built an amazing deer stand for his Dad just last fall for him to hunt out of.  It gave Pat so much pleasure to be able to hunt on his own land with his young daughter, wife, Alyssa, and his Dad.  Pat also created a beautiful pond in front of his home, including a bridge he built, which was later used as the location of where he married his beautiful wife, Alyssa. Pat created many other landscape details that adorn his property.  He was always a hard worker and was constantly thinking and planning his next huge endeavor.  When Pat wasn’t busy snowplowing for individuals and businesses in the winter, you could find him on many of the local lakes in the Spooner area ice fishing with Alyssa and the kids, and many of Pat’s friends.

 Pat’s love of landscaping and operating heavy equipment started as a kid when he spent countless hours playing in dirt piles and the big sandbox he and his brother shared with all of their tractors, trucks, dump trucks, excavators, and skid steers.  His love of the outdoors was forged early on from the many summers spent at his family’s property in Canada on Lake of the Woods where he spent countless hours fishing, exploring and hunting.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Alyssa Hover of Spooner; his daughter, Riley Hover; his stepchildren, Ashanti (Isaac Herricks) Riggs, Carter Riggs and Jayden Riggs; his step granddaughter, Olivia; his parents, Gregory and Mary Hover of Chetek; his brother, Christopher (Amanda) Hover of Spooner; his loyal black lab, Boomer; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. 

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jim and Dorothy Bach, his paternal grandparents, Gordon Hover and Pauline Aspevig, and his very special uncle, Bob Kelly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.  Food & beverages will be served.  The family invites all family, friends, neighbors and Pat’s customers to spend the afternoon celebrating Pat’s life and sharing their stories about Pat.  Please join us at Pat’s house located at W4890 County Hwy A, Spooner, WI.
