Norma Melby Obituary

Norma Leigh Melby, age 86, of Hayward, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2019 at Hayward Health Services.  She was born May 27, 1933 in Hayward, the daughter of Oscar and Dorothy (James) Olson.

God has released a beautiful soul to walk among the flowers.

Norma lived and worked in the Hayward area most of her life. She was always a very hard worker but her passion was gardening. She loved "playing in the dirt". Her pride and glory were her gladiolus which she loved to share with others.

She is a grandmother that will be dearly missed especially by her granddaughter Rachel who loved her so much and whom she shared an especially deep connection with. Rachel could share anything with her and never feel judged, always loved. There were sleepovers and personal knitting courses that will never be forgotten, Rachel's heart is especially saddened.

Many hearts are broken in grief from this loss. Heaven received another angel as she walked into the light holding hands with her Lord Jesus and granddaughter Amber.

She is survived by her children, Tom (Sally) Williams of Watertown, WI, April (Mike) Armstrong and John Williams of both of Hayward, WI; her sister, Ardelle Wittwer of Forest Lake, MN; her brothers, Ted Olson of Chadron, NE and Dean (Margie) Olson of Ashland, WI; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Norma is preceded in death by her love of her life, John Melby; her brothers, Pete Olson, Dale Olson, Roger Olson and James Olson; and her granddaughter, Amber Williams.

All services and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 620 S. 76th Street #160, Milwaukee, WI 53214.
