Nina Mae (Stetz) Urquhart passed away June 23, 2026, while in hospice care in Spooner, WI. Nina was born August 8, 1937, in Chicago IL, to parents Joseph and Veronica (Romanowski) Stetz, and had one older sister, Marlene (Rotondo). Of Polish descent, Nina’s parents and grandparents were first generation immigrants to the United States, and as a young girl she learned to speak Polish communicating with her grandparents. As a girl, she loved going fishing for perch on the shores of Lake Michigan with her dad. Nina married James Norman Urquhart, originally from Park Falls, WI, in September 1964. Nina was mother to three children – Anita, Jon and James.
James and Nina moved to Minnesota where they lived until 1995, when they moved to the Hayward, WI area. Nina spent her working years as a secretary and office manager and was known for running a tight ship. She enjoyed many different types of crafts including sewing, quilting, crochet, cross-stitch and needlepoint. She also enjoyed puzzles, all sorts of TV (especially All My Children), cooking, and a good martini.
Nina is survived by her sister Marlene, husband James, daughter Anita, sons Jon (Debra) and James (Laura), and grandchildren Donnie, Joseph, Alicia, Alex, Tyler, Ava and Ian.
A celebration of life is planned for August 8, 2026. Please contact family for information.
