Michael D. Gamble, a proud Navy veteran who served his country in the Vietnam War, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at the age of 82, with his sweetheart and wife, Lois, by his side. He was born on March 15, 1943, in Greenbelt, Maryland, to Howard and Myrna (Marlene) Gamble.
When Mike was lucky enough to meet his favorite dance partner, Lois, the two became inseparable. He quickly became her knight in shining armor, and together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and hard work. They raised their family on a small hobby farm in Hinckley Minnesota, before moving to Hayward and then finally settling down in Birchwood.
By trade, Mike was a commercial graphic designer, using his sharp eye and creative spirit to make the world a more beautiful place. He had a knack for turning blank spaces into something worth admiring—whether it was a logo, a doodle on a napkin, or paintings of his favorite old western actors.
He was also a gifted musician and could play just about any instrument you handed him. Never one to be limited by what was available, he even built his own guitar and a stand-up bass out of a small metal wash tub—proof that his creativity and resourcefulness knew no bounds.
Mike had a passion for cooking, though “adventurous” might be a better description. He had an affinity for curry and would put it in nearly everything (sometimes successfully, sometimes not so much). He was also a devoted connoisseur of chicken wings, peanut butter, and Nestle’s Quik—culinary staples that never failed him.
Guided by a strong faith in the Lord, Mike’s life was defined by kindness, resilience, and a sense of humor that made everyone feel welcome. He had a way of turning hard work into joy, and ordinary moments into lasting memories.
Mike is survived by his wife, Lois; his children Darin Gamble, Jason (Jennifer) Gamble, Leilani (John) Beise, Mariah (Robert) Miles, Seth Gamble; his loyal dog Tucker; brothers Garry (Renee) Gamble and Todd (Doreen) Gamble; sister Laurie (Dean) Bengford and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Myrna (Marlene) Gamble; in-laws Leon (Jack) and Lorraine Stowe; brother Steve (Tammy) Gamble; nieces April and Amanda Royer; and first wife, Diane Zachary.
Mike’s legacy lives on through his family, his stories, his music, and his unwavering belief that life is better with good humor, and a guitar in your hand. His loved ones take comfort knowing he is now at peace, his music forever woven into heaven’s song.
