Melvin G. Klino, age 80, of Lago Vista, TX passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at his home surrounded by family.
Melvin Glenn Klino was born June 10, 1941, in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Norman and Doris (Heydenburg) Klino. He was raised in Grand Rapids, MI and Lincoln Park, MI, doing his schooling until his teenage years when he began work as a machinist. Melvin joined the U.S. Navy on December 28, 1960. While in the Navy he completed his high school education and received his diploma from Lincoln Park High School in 1962. Melvin was stationed on Aircraft Carriers USS Bennington and then USS Coral Sea for most of his time in the Navy. On September 27, 1964, Melvin was joined in marriage to Evelyn F. Bowling in Yuma, AZ. Melvin was honorably discharged from the Navy on November 30, 1964. He moved to California for a short time before returning to Mt. Clemens, MI where he and Evelyn started their family. Melvin and family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where Melvin expanded his career in the Tool and Die trade, working primarily for Tool and Die Masters and Armstrong Technologies. He also operated his own company, Klino Tool and Die. He then lived in Buellton, CA for a short time before moving to Lago Vista, TX. where Melvin and his son began All Axis Machine and Tool. Melvin enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR when he wasn’t working hard at his business.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Evelyn; three children, Margaret “Peg” Merin of Spokane, WA, Michelle (John) Broadway of Maiden Rock, WI, Michael (Theresa) Klino of Leander, TX; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three siblings, Sharon Sweeney of San Jose, CA, Rick (Paula) Klino of Gold Canyon, AZ, Roy (Sue) Klino of Sun Valley, NV; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Norman and William Klino.
A celebration of Melvin’s life will be held at a later date to be announced.
