Matthew R Glessing

Matthew Roger Glessing, age 17, a resident of Trego, Wisconsin, died unexpectedly on Wednesday evening, July 15, 2026.

Matthew was born on February 11, 2009, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to parents Jason and Lisa (Leckel) Glessing.  Matt was a current student at Spooner High School, getting ready to start his senior year this fall.  It was during school that he found his singing voice, singing in  several competitions, programs, and as part of the worship team at church. He also enjoyed many sports including soccer, football, basketball, and golf.  His greatest joy was hanging out with his friends, working on cars, and being outdoors hunting and fishing.  He was a friend to many and a light to everyone he met.

Matthew is survived by his parents Jason and Lisa Glessing, brother Zachary, sister Abigail, paternal grandmother Julie Glessing, uncle Benjamin Glessing and Jess, Aunt Carey Glessing and Dustin, maternal grandmother Verna Leckel, uncles Terry (Suzannah) Leckel, Jason (Debbie) Leckel, aunt Jessica Leckel, and numerous cousins, extended family, and friends.

Matthew is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Calvin Glessing and his maternal grandfather Terry Leckel Sr.

Funeral Services for Matthew will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 11am, at the Spooner Wesleyan Church, with Pastor Jason Sanders officiating.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 4-7pm, at the Spooner Wesleyan Church and also on Wednesday from 10-11am prior to the funeral.  Interment will follow at the Spooner Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Jason Glessing, Zach Glessing, Matt Poppe, Tony McCracken, Noah Smith, Ben Reedy, Nick Reedy, and Cameron Rich.
