Mary Ellen Hughes

Mary Ellen Hughes, 79, Gordon, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 at her home.

Mary was born on June 17, 1946 in Clear Lake, WI to Stanley and Elma (Peters) Christensen.  She graduated from Clear Lake High School.  Mary married Harold Kittelson on January 16, 1965.  Together they had three children: Donald, Amy, and Troy and lived in Clayton, WI.  Mary later met Wayne Hughes and they were married on November 5, 1988 and lived in Amery, WI before moving to Gordon, WI.  Mary and Wayne started a computer store along with a craft/printing store where they worked together.

Mary enjoyed golfing, crocheting and knitting.  She and Wayne were  members of the 4 wheeler club and enjoyed the many trails in the area.

She is survived by her husband Wayne of Gordon; children Amy (John) Moore, Troy (Trista) Kittelson; step-sons Ron and David Hughes; grandchildren Kayla (Adam) Hall, Michael Kittelson, Aaron Moore, Isaac Moore, Troy V. Kittelson, Natalee Kittelson, Katie (Jordon) Drinkman, Cassie Kittelson, and Kyle Kittelson; many great-grandchildren; sisters Marcia Heinbuch, Marlis (George) Lindemann, Marjean (Tom) Rowen; sisters-in-law Karen Pederson and Maple Christensen.  She was preceded in death by her son Donald Kittelson; parents Stanley and  Elma Christensen; sister Mavis and brothers Marvin and Marlyn “Butch”.

Family and friends can call at the Spooner Funeral Home 306 Rusk St. Spooner, WI on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 from 1:00-3:00 pm with a memorial service to follow at 3:00pm.
