Mary Hahn Obituary

Mary “Dardie” Hahn, age 98, of Hayward passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at Hayward Health Services.

Mary Dardanella Hahn was born on February 21, 1921 in Calera, Oklahoma to John and Elizabeth Eaton.  She grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from North High School in 1939.  Mary then completed the course of instruction from Felt and Tarrant Comptometer School in Des Moines in 1940 and was employed by the U.S. Rubber Ordinance plant (making bullets) in Des Moines.  She also worked at the Bendix Aviation Plant in South Bend, Indiana specializing in assembling airplane parts during World War II.  Mary married Daniel M. Hahn on January 17, 1946 when he returned home from overseas serving in the U.S. Army Air Force.  She and Daniel lived in Madison, Wisconsin from 1946-1951 where Dan was employed by the Nevin State Fish Hatchery.  Daniel was transferred to the Hayward Fish Hatchery as supervisor in charge until 1962 and then he and Mary moved to Bayfield, Wisconsin where Daniel was supervisor in charge of the Bayfield Fish Hatchery for 20 years, before he retired in 1982.  After retirement, Mary and Daniel moved to Hayward to be closer to family.  Mary enjoyed music, singing, dancing, playing cards, and she was always interested in having fun!

Mary is survived by her daughter, Donna Elizabeth McFaul of Hayward; son, David John Hahn of Hayward; and special son-in-law, Daniel Thomas McFaul of Hayward; and three nieces; three nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.  Mary was also blessed with many dear and loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; her parents; and her brother, John Henry (Jack) Eaton.

In accordance with Mary’s wishes, no public services are planned.  Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.

Mary’s family would like to acknowledge and thank the Hayward Health Services staff and Dr. Harry Malcolm for the wonderful care she received from them all.
