Marie Madonna Deeg (nee Lyons), born October 6, 1926, went to see her Lord on June 15th at Fountains of Hosanna Assisted Living Facility in Lakeville, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, all four of her siblings and their spouses and both of James’ siblings and their spouses, and daughter-in-law, Patricia Gray.
She was raised on a dairy farm near Glenwood City, WI. She met Jim, while working in California. They married in 1949 and raised their family in Eagan, MN. After retiring from Unisys in 1991, she and Jim sold their Eagan home and moved to their lake home on Whitefish Lake near Hayward WI, which she called her “Heaven on Earth.” While there she became involved in the Hayward Area Food Shelf, Hospice and the Stone Lake Cranberry Festival.
She loved her God, her family, music, travelling and playing bridge. Marie is survived by six sons, Mike (Elaine), Steve (Karen), Chuck (Mary), Bill (Sue), Bob, and Dan (MaryAnn) and daughter Mary (Jeff Gilmer). She also was blessed with thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Phillip Catholic Church in Stone Lake, WI at noon on Monday June 20th, preceded by visitation an hour before Mass in the church. Private burial will be at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
Memorials are preferred to Minnesota Hospice of Lakeville, MN.
