Marian Becker

Marian Becker, age 91, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Glenview Special Care in Shell Lake, WI.

Marian was born on December 6, 1930, in Kenosha, WI, to Sheldon and Mildred Wight. Marian was a graduate of Kenosha High School. On September 16, 1950, Marian married Bob Becker. They moved to Ann Arbor, MI, where Bob studied and graduated in forestry at the University of Michigan. Their son, Mark, was born in 1952, and their daughter, Anne, in 1955. In 1966, the family moved to Spooner, WI, where Bob worked at the Department of Natural Resources. In 1985, Bob retired to pursue a second career in writing. For 16 years he wrote for four newspapers, “Boot Prints”, and published six books. (Marian was his secretary!) Bob and Marian were married 64 years.

Marian is survived by her daughter, Anne Andrea of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Michelle Andrea and Ben Andrea, both of Wilmington, NC, and Kyle (Mary Jo) Becker and Jessee Becker, both of Hayward, WI; two great-grandchildren, Brady and Avery Becker; sister-in-law, Doris Wight; as well as nieces and nephews, and her dear friends whom she cherished.

Marian is preceded in death by her husband, Bob; their son, Mark; her parents, Sheldon and Mildred; and her brothers, Douglas and Wesley.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spooner with Vicar Dan Shimon officiating. Visitation will start at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery Friday, September 23, at 2:00 p.m.
