Loretta “Midge” Grosskreutz, 100, Minong, passed away at her home on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Midge was born on February 1, 1925 in Marathon, WI to Joseph and Loretta (Schirpke) Griesmer. She graduated from Stratford High School. Midge worked for 25 years as a bookkeeper for Montgomery Wards in Wisconsin Rapids. After moving to Minong, Midge worked with the Minong Senior Center for over 10 years. She married Wayne Grosskreutz on June 22, 1984. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1999. Midge was an avid fisherman and cribbage player. She enjoyed teaching others the game of cribbage also. Perhaps so that she would have someone to play with.
She is survived by her children Kenneth (Karen) Grosskreutz, Michael Grosskreutz, Timothy Grosskreutz, Deborah (Ray) Lecy, and Dawn Gilson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Theresa.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at the Spooner Funeral Home, 306 Rusk St. Spooner, WI at 2:00pm. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00pm until the time of the service. As an expression of sympathy you may wish to consider memorials to the Minong Senior Center in Midge’s name
