Linda Gurtner, age 77, a life-long resident of the Spooner/Shell Lake area, died on Friday, November 15, 2024, at her home with her family at her side.
Linda was born on April 19, 1947, in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, to parents Robert and Valeria (Cook) LeMoine. After graduating from Shell Lake High School, she was united in marriage to James Gurtner, her high school sweetheart. James was drafted and served during Vietnam, and while he was away, Linda worked for 3M in the Twin Cities. After James was discharged, they made their home near Shell Lake and began making cheese with James’ family at Swiss Chalet. The couple later bought a dairy farm and farmed for many years. After selling the farm, Linda went to work at Streseau Labs where she would work for 31 years. Linda enjoyed camping, traveling, and her dogs, but the most important thing for Linda was her family and spending time together.
Linda is survived by her fiancé Thomas Parker of Spooner; sons James Gurtner of Norfolk, VA, and John (Kirste) Gurtner of North Pole, AK; 6 grandchildren: Jessica Rady, Ashley Gurtner, Tyler Gurtner, Megan Gurtner, Erin Saucedo, Amanda Pellegrino; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Laurie (John) Camp of Rice Lake, WI, Lorna (Randy) Moore of Park Falls, WI, and Robert (Julie) LeMoine of Cameron, WI; and a number nieces and nephews.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents and sister Londa Olsen.
Funeral services for Linda Gurtner will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at the Spooner Funeral Home with Pastor Virgil Amundson officiating.
