Keith Richard Ryan, 77, passed away the morning of January 1, 2026, at Dove Healthcare–Reflections in Eau Claire WI, due to congestive heart failure. He was born on January 16, 1948, in Elgin IL to parents Charles and Elizabeth (Swenson) Ryan.
Keith was the youngest of four children and the first in his family to attend college. He pursued higher education at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, where he majored in Computer Science and minored in Art Medium – a combination that reflected both his analytical mind and creative spirit.
Keith’s professional life was as diverse and dynamic as his personality. Known affectionately as a “Jack of all Trades,” he held a wide range of jobs over the years—from working in fast food, as a restaurant chef, and apartment maintenance, among others. He found long-term employment with Menards in Eau Claire WI, where he dedicated over two decades of service.
A true extrovert at heart, Keith thrived on social interaction. He delighted in gathering with old friends and never missed an opportunity to strike up a conversation with someone new. His warmth and enthusiasm made him a familiar face in many circles throughout Eau Claire, DeKalb, and Aurora IL.
Keith’s greatest passion was music. A devoted fan across genres and decades, he attended countless concerts and live performances at local bars and clubs. His encyclopedic knowledge of music extending from the Big Band era of the 1930s through the hits of the 1990s—made him near unbeatable at music trivia games. Whether discussing swing legends or classic rock icons, Keith could recall names, lyrics, and histories with remarkable precision.
He is survived by his sisters Charline (Fred) Huwe and Patricia Warren, along with nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. In addition to his parents, Keith is preceded in death by his brother Robert Ryan.
Keith’s vibrant spirit and deep love for music left an indelible mark on those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who shared in his life.
