Joyce (Plummer) Nyara

Marion Joyce Nyara, age 85, of Sarona, WI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Barron Care and Rehabilitation in Barron, WI.  She was born on October 15, 1937 in her home in Big Bend Township, WI, the daughter of Albie “Jack” and Doris (Wiles) Plummer.  She was married to Gordon Kruger in 1956 and they had four children.  She later married Paul V. Nyara, who was the love of her life.

Most enjoyable to Joyce was spending time with her family.  She was happiest when they were around her.  She loved animals, especially her dogs.  Joyce enjoyed her gardens but in later years she just had her flowers to tend to.  Joyce loved snowmobiling, camping, and was an avid reader.  She was a loyal Green Bay Packer and Minnesota Twins fan.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Paul Nyara of Sarona, WI; her children, Robin (Annette) Kruger of Elk Mound, WI, Jeff (Deidre) Kruger of Mikana, WI, Deana (Harvey) Watts of Rockford, IL; her stepsons, Kevin (Alexandra) Nyara of Haugen, WI and Dustin (Bridgette) Nyara of East Bethel, MN; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her three sisters, Peggy Ann, Loanna Lee and her oldest sister, June; her brother, Russell Plummer; and her infant son, Mark Gordon Kruger, who passed eight hours after birth. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Spooner Funeral Home, 306 Rusk Street in Spooner, where visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service.  Interment will follow in Spooner Cemetery.
