John Duwayne Scheffel, age 67, of Springbrook, Wisconsin passed away May 26, 2025, at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota.
John was born on May 12, 1958, in Hayward, Wisconsin, the son of Garhart and Leona Scheffel. He was raised in Springbrook, working on the family farm as he attended school, later graduating from Spooner High School. Shortly after high school, on April 23, 1983, he married Lauri Taylor, and they lived together in Springbrook. Throughout his working career, he always worked for farms, either as a farm hand or as a mechanic. One thing was for certain; he was always working with his hands.
John’s passion for his life was his work, as he was always working. Other things that he enjoyed was riding his dirt bike when he was younger, he was an avid deer hunter, but above all was spending time with his family. He loved carving pumpkins as a family, entertaining the grandkids, and he also gave the best advice to all.
John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lauri; his sons and their children, Joe Andrea, and his children Lauri, Kurt, Zach, Zoe, and Raven, Shawn Scheffel, and his children, Emma, Ady, Alysha, Ethan, and Maverick, Joshua Scheffel, and his sons, Bryson and Brenden, Jacob Scheffel, and his son Owen; his siblings, Linda, Gary Lee, Richard, Debra, Calvin, and Mike; many nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held at Gary Lee's Family Get Together House with fireworks to follow, on Saturday, July 5, 2025, starting at 5:00 PM and will run into the evening.
