John Matthew Prusila

John Matthew Prusila, age 73, of Barnes, WI, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN.  He was born on November 25, 1947 in Waukegan, IL, the son of Roy and Miriam (nee Hanna) Prusila.  He married Patricia Gail Engelking on June 13, 1970 in Beecher, IL.

John taught history and coached at Antioch High School in Antioch, IL.  He loved spending time with his family outdoors on the water and in the woods.  An avid reader, John immersed himself in historical non-fiction and novels.  He was a sports fan and enjoyed countless hours practicing with and watching his sons and granddaughters play.  He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Patti Prusila; his sons, Mike (Barbara) Prusila and their children, Cates and Pearl, and Tom (Kelly) Prusila and their children, Clare and Fiona; his brother, Steve (Beth) Prusila; his nephew, John Prusila; and his niece, Katie Talamantes.

John is preceded in death by his parents.
