John Krueger Obituary

John Krueger (born Steven John Krueger) passed away at his home on December 24th at the age of 67.

John was a passionate, lifelong learner, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy & Computer Science from UW-Madison and a Master’s Degree in Computer & Information Science from The Ohio State University. He studied astronomy and herbology in his spare time and later studied anatomy to become an EMT.

He moved to northern Wisconsin in 1990; where he was excited to raise his family on 75+ acres of land near the Chequamegon National Forest. John loved the north woods and for many years was happiest with his children; either out in nature or curled up on the couch. He built playgrounds with trampolines, a horse pasture, cleared hills for sledding, and flooded areas for ice skating in the winter. With his beloved parents and children, he loved to camp, fish, garden, take horseback rides through the woods, and enjoy long, hot saunas.

Having encountered and struggled with many challenges in life, in the Spring of 2011 John found faith. He was re-baptized and began devoting his life to God. He moved to Hayward, WI in 2013 and his community on Eytcheson Road and at Lake Chippewa Campground were a special support for him during this time. John cared deeply for those around him and donated much of his income to international non-profits supporting children in poverty. Prayer, meditation, and scripture became important in his daily routine as John found joy, safety, and love in his relationship with God until his final days.

His love for nature and passion for learning live on through his children. He is survived by his four children, Jennifer (35), Rebecca (32), Nathaniel (28), and Amanda Krueger (27); his parents Paul (91) and Elaine Krueger (89); and his three sisters Paula Pahl (64), Julie Schulz (62), and Amy Krueger-Thede (59).

A celebration of life will be held for those who loved John in the coming months and will be shared at a later date.
