James “Jim” Lovell, age 87, of Stone Lake, WI, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Comforts of Home in River Falls, WI.
Jim was born February 12, 1937, in Rice Lake, WI, to parents Nyle and Margaret (Roark) Lovell. Jim attended Rice Lake High School and went on to join the Merchant Marines, sailing across the Great Lakes. Jim then worked as a mechanic in Madison, WI, where he met his first wife, Sharon. The couple moved to the Twin Cities area where Jim became a master plasterer. He spent a brief time living in Montana where he was a logger before returning to the Twin Cities. In 1977 Jim moved to Stone Lake, WI and began working at LP in Hayward, WI. In Jim’s final career, he worked with Push, Inc., laying cable in ditches.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He greatly enjoyed musky fishing in Musky Bay on Lac Courte Oreilles, and deer hunting. Gardening was also a passion Jim enjoyed.
Jim is survived by his children, Kathy (Jeff) Aspenwall, Barb Lovell, Mark Lovell, Julie (Joe) Paavola, and Jami Brackeen; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; ex-wife, Margaret; several stepchildren and step grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son, Dan Lovell; ex-wife, Sharon; and wife LaVonne.
A memorial service will be held at St. Philip Catholic Church in Stone Lake, WI on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11:30 AM with a visitation a half hour prior.
