James Michael Bauer, age 81, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN. He was born on September 3, 1944, in Brooklyn Township, WI, the son of Roman and Emma (Dahler) Bauer.
Jim graduated from Spooner High School in 1962 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from UW Stout in 1967. He was a proud soldier in the United States Army serving his country overseas in Vietnam. Within the time of his military service, Jim worked as a mechanic in Los Angeles and Colorado Springs for eight years. Jim then taught auto mechanics and small engine repair in Wheeling, IL, for a couple years before moving to Johnson, Kansas where he taught for over nine years. He finished his teaching career with the LCO Reservation, where he taught metal works. After teaching, Jim worked for the Northern County Highway Department as a mechanic for over ten years.
He is survived by his siblings, George Bauer of Trego, WI, Rosaleen Dullinger of Trego, WI, and Patricia (Brian) Hoeffling of Andover, MN; his brother-in-law, David Gourhan of Wyoming, MN; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Bauer; his sisters, Romana Klug and Judy Gouhran; his brother-in-law, Albert Dullinger; and his sister-in-law, Nancee Bauer.
A committal service with military honors will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Northern Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
