Helen Genevieve (Solberg) Khalar

 Helen Genevieve Khalar, age 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 17, 2025 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN.  She was born on June 19, 1943 in Dixon, IL, the daughter of Oscar and Rose (Wunder) Solberg.  She was united in marriage to Henry George Khalar on October 17, 1959 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Poplar, WI. 

Helen moved to Wisconsin at the age of five and attended school in Poplar, graduating from Northwestern High School.  After her marriage, she and her husband farmed beef cattle just outside of Lake Nebagamon, WI.  Helen also had a couple side jobs cleaning cabins and helping with spring clean up at resorts and lodges in the Brule area.  She enjoyed tending to her gardens and was a loving mother. 

She is survived by her daughter, Victoria (Mitch) Wallace of Hominy, OK; her grandchildren, Derek, Mitchell, Jamisyn, Tiffany, Trevor, Miranda and Tamra; her great-grandchildren, Archer and Elyott; and her son-in-law, Barton Vanberschot.

In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Henry George Khalar; her son George M. Khalar; and her daughter, Kathleen Olson. 

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at the Solon Springs Funeral Home, 9005 E. Biller Loop in Solon Springs where visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of the service.  Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
