Gregory Scott “Bombsie” Blom, age 70, passed away Monday, May 30, 2022, at his residence in Wascott, WI. He was born on June 9, 1951, in St. Paul, MN, the son of Charles and Lorraine (Parker) Blom. Greg graduated from Johnson High School in 1969. While there, he participated in hockey and band. Greg then attended Bemidji State University, where he was an active member of the Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity. After college, Greg was a Hotshot Firefighter with the Minnesota DNR, working fighting forest fires for several years. Greg was also an educator at John Glenn Middle School and North St. Paul High School. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and he was also a certified pilot.
Greg is survived by his parents, Charles, and Lorraine (Parker) Blom of St. Paul, MN, his brothers Stan (Karen) Blom of Vadnais Heights, MN, Jeff (Julie) Blom of Lino Lakes, MN, Gary (Joan) Blom of Oakdale, MN, his nieces and nephews Stan Jr., Nicole, Samantha, Jeffrey Jr, Cody, Kyle, and Hayley, 4 great nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends, as well as his special friend Linda.
A Celebration of Greg’s Life will be held on Friday, June 10 at Wakefield Park Community Building – 1860 Hazelwood Street, Maplewood, MN 55109 – from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
