Gordon Seigl Obituary

Gordon M. Seigl Jr., age 77, of Hayward, WI and Yantis, TX, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Tamarack Health in Hayward.

Gordon Michael Seigl, Jr. was born September 8, 1948, in Milwaukee, WI the son of Gordon and Miriam (Stamm) Seigl, Sr.  He was raised and attended school in Milwaukee where he graduated from Nathan-Hale High School in 1966.  Gordon joined the U.S. Marines Corp on August 4, 1967, and served during the Vietnam War.  While serving his country, Gordon earned the Purple Heart Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksmanship Badge, and Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star.  Due to his injuries, Gordon was honorably discharged and returned to Milwaukee, WI.  While in Milwaukee, Gordon met Pamela Utphall-Stenzel.  Gordon and Pam were married on June 2, 1973, and they made their home in Cable, WI.  Gordon worked for a sawmill in Drummond until it was shut down.  In 1975, moved his family back to Milwaukee where he began work as a machinist for General Electric that manufactured medical equipment.  Gordon and his family settled in Mukwonago, WI where he and Pam would live for 36 years.  When Gordon’s son moved to Texas, he and Pam began spending serval months a year in Yantis, TX.  Gordon retired in 2008 and he and Pam moved to Hayward, WI.  Gordon was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting deer, bear, buffalo and moose.  His love of fishing led him to be Zone Director for Wisconsin Bass Federation, President of Bass Angler Limited and a member of Hayward Bass Club.  Gordon and a friend joined the BASS Tournament Trail and the Bass Anglers Trail as professional tournament fishermen.  Gordon also guided bear hunts and would specifically guide children on fishing trips to help teach a new generation to enjoy fishing. 

Gordon is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pam; three children, Kimberly Stenzel of Hayward, Jeffery Stenzel of Hayward, Allen (Anita) Seigl of Yantis, TX; ten grandchildren, Angie, Ben, Matt, Lauren, Bryar, Jamie, Josh, DevIn, Ariana and Branden; seventeen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; one sister, Candace (Dennis) Seib of Helenville, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Debra Husting and Sheryl Seigl; and son, Richard Stenzel.

A committal service with military honors will be held at noon on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Spooner, WI with Pastor Ben Kidder officiating.  Military honors will be accorded by Hayward American Legion Post #218 and the Wisconsin Military Funeral Honors Program.  Following the service, a gathering will be held at the Hayward Veterans Center from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
