Gary Wayne Walter, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 8, 2024 in Hayward, WI. He was born on April 10, 1956 in Spooner, WI, the son of Keith and Freda (Mikula) Walter. He was united in marriage to Darlene R. Oldenburg on September 8, 1979 in Stone Lake, WI.
Gary graduated from Hayward High School with the class of 1975. He started farming with his parents on the family farm and later for the Bernie Kadlec farm near Stone Lake. Gary also worked for Bar H Implements, Whiskey Ridge, and for the Stone Lake Township. When not working, he enjoyed the Northwoods life, especially hunting and fishing. He was a man of deep faith and will be dearly missed by all of his church family.
He is survived by his sons, Bryan (Erin) Walter and Adam (Trish S.) Walter both of Stone Lake; his grandsons, Levi and Keith Walter and Austin and Tristan Ozee; his brother, Jon (Pam) Walter of Hayward; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlene Walter; his daughter, Chris Lee Walter; and his sister, Patricia Walter.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Stone Lake Wesleyan Church, 16838 W First Street in Stone Lake where visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service. Pastor Tim Young will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Stone Lake.
