Gary A. Pavlicek, 81, of Webster passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at Meadowbrook Nursing home in Bloomer., Wis.
Gary was born Jan 15, 1944 in St. Paul, Minn., to Albert and Lucille Pavlicek, He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Monroe High School where he was a member of the Green Wave swim team. After high school, he attended the University of Minnesota and Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. Growing up, Gary spent his summers at the family cabin on Cross Lake in Pine City, Minn., where he met his future wife, Karen Bjorklund. In 1996, Gary and Karen married and the couple settled in St. Paul. In the mid-1970s, he started the first of several successful construction businesses. His companies worked on everything from wastewater treatment plants to several Ford Motor Company manufacturing plants across the United States and Canada, new home construction, the Minnesota DNR fire prevention log building at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds and in later years, memorial structures including the Minnesota Firefighters Memorial at the State Capitol in St. Paul, and the George Morrison Memorial in Grand Marais, Minn. In 1987, the family relocated permanently to the Webster area. When Gary wasn’t working, he could be found on the lake driving one of his beloved boats, or in the fall, in his majestic deer stand his sons built for him.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lucille; and son, Eric, in 2023.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Karen; daughter Lisa (Dan) Rosemore of Pengilly, Minn.; sons Joe (Kristen) Pavlicket and Adam (Deb) Pavlicek, both of Webster; sister Nancy (Wayne) Siewert of Crosslake, Minn., grandchildren: Zachary, Kaitlyn (Matt), Devan (Carly), Andrew, Jake, Sydney, Elizabeth, Annaliese and Lukas; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Gary will be held on Saturday, May 31, at the Siren Covenant Church with visitation at 10 a.m., until the 11 a.m., service, with Pastor Brian Pardun officiating. Lunch will follow the service. A private burial will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend heart-felt thanks to the staff at Meadowbrook Nursing Home and St. Croix Hospice for the loving care they gave Gary in his final months.
