Fern Alice (Kolatskie) Magnusson

Fern Alice Magnusson, 94 of Hayward, Wisconsin, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026. 

She was born on August 6, 1931, in Cheboygan, Michigan, the daughter of the late, Stanley and Leonore (Sova) Kolatskie.  For over 25 years, Fern worked alongside her husband, David, operating The Edge of Town Bar & Restaurant in Mequon, Wisconsin.  When they retired, they moved to the Hayward area where David grew up.  Fern enjoyed volunteering at the Hospital in Hayward and loved spending time with family.

On March 31, 1951, Fern married David Magnusson, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2000.  She is survived by her children, Karen (Stewart) Smith, Mark Magnusson, Drew (Debi) Magnusson, Judy Van Sluys, and David (Karen) Magnusson, Jr.; 9 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Fern at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026 with Father David Neuschwander officiating.  A time of gathering will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.  Interment will be in the Shell Lake Cemetery.
