Long time Lutheran educator Elta Louise Schultz-Kell, age 91, of Hayward, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2018 at Hayward Health Services in Hayward, WI. She was born December 8, 1926 in Antigo, WI, the daughter of Otto and Ella (Gresch) Hoeft.
Elta served as a called worker in the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod for over 30 years. She was a faithful member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo, WI where she taught first and second grade in their Christian school. Many current citizens of Antigo had her as their teacher. She was dedicated to various church groups including Bible Study, Dorcas Society, quilting, church choir and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was also a proud 4-H leader for many years. She greatly enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and watching old movies.
She is survived by her children, The Reverend Jonathan (Mary) Schultz of Tulsa, OK, Mary Schroeder of Winter, WI and Margaret (Peter) Schmidt of Billings, MT; her grandchildren, Laura, Brittany, Nicole, Ashley, Roxann, Karl and Philip; her great-grandchildren, Angela, Tristan, Dean, John, Samantha and Hunter; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Schultz; her second husband, Arnold Kell; her siblings, Lothar Hoeft, Beulah Meyer and Beatta Backman; and her son-in-law, Scott Schroeder.
Memorial services will be July 18 at Peace Lutheran Church, 300 Lincoln Street in Antigo, WI at 11:00 am.
Memorial contributions may be directed to The Peace Lutheran School Endowment Fund in Antigo, WI which she and her husband, Arnold started.
