Eleanor Hallgren, age 82, a resident of Hawthorn Twp, Douglas County, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Eleanor was born on May 31, 1943, in Superior, Wisconsin, to parents John and Verna (Orloski) Bakos. She grew up in the house that her grandpa built in the town of Hawthorn. She attended and graduated from Northwestern High School in 1961. She attended UW Madison for a year before moving back home. On May 20, 1963, she was united in marriage to Larry Hallgren in Saginaw, Minnesota. Together they each owned their own semi-truck and did over the road trucking for a time before she returned home to be close to her mother. After her mother died, she moved back into the house she grew up in until her passing. Eleanor loved her children and grandkids. She was an avid gardener, growing vegetables and flower, of which her violets were her pride and joy. Along with gardening, she loved picking berries to make her jams and jellies. She loved all animals whether they be household or farm animals. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, beading, and making jewelry.
Eleanor is survived by her daughters: Belinda (Todd) Haedrich of Saginaw, Minnesota, Christina (Nick) Nordby of Proctor, Minnesota, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and honorary daughter and main care giver Kelly Clark.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband Larry, daughter Amanda Hallgren, and her parents.
A graveside service for Eleanor will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 3pm, at the Bennett Cemetery on County Highway L near Bennett.
