Edryce Ruth Boreen, 84, was surrounded by her family when she went home to be with Jesus on November 25, 2022.
Edryce was born on April 28, 1938, in Grove City, MN to Edward and Ruth Hedtke. She grew up on the family farm and was the oldest in their family of five children. On July 1, 1961, she married the true love of her life, Eugene (Gene) Boreen. They had two children, Karen and Kevin. In May of 1971, they moved to Gordon where they owned and operated the Gordon IGA for ten years. After selling the store she worked various office jobs before retiring to enjoy many years of wintering in Yuma, AZ with Gene and other family and friends.
Edryce was actively involved in the Gordon Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the lady’s 50/50 Club, for over 50 years. She also enjoyed the friendship, card playing and laughter at senior meals. She meant so much to so many! Throughout her life she loved caring for her gardens and adding bling to them with many decorations. Most important to Edryce was her faith and her family. If she couldn’t be outside, you would find her filling her heart through her love of gospel music and reading the Bible (cover-to-cover each year for the past 53 years). Edryce was a prayer warrior every single day! She loved her family and friends so deeply, her heart overflowing whenever she was with them. If you received a card from her or read her comments on Facebook, you knew her love through her wishes of “God Bless You Always!”
Edryce is survived by daughter Karen (Troy) Griffin; son Kevin (Cheri) Boreen; grandchildren: Danielle (Dustin) Corlett, Alyssa (Shawn) Stafford, Nicholas Boreen; great-grandchildren: Kailee Corlett, Kaden Corlett, Easton Stafford, Roenick Stafford; and sisters Audrey Anderson and Kayleen (Ken) Johnson. Going to heaven before her was her husband of almost 50 years, Eugene Boreen; parents Edward and Ruth Hedtke; siblings Ronnie (Judy) Hedtke and Arlyn (Bernie) Hedtke; brother-in-law, Larry Anderson; and many other dear family members and friends she made over the years.
A memorial service will be held at the St. Croix Presbyterian Church in Gordon on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at the Gordon Memorial Cemetery.
Thank you for celebrating Edryce’s life with us and God Bless You Always!!
