Earl Alexander Boettcher, age 95, of Hayward, WI, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Cornell Health Services in Cornell, WI. He was born November 2, 1930, in Richfield, Washington County, Wisconsin, the son of Walter and Gertrude (Fischer) Boettcher. He attended Richfield State Grade School until the family moved to Hayward, WI, in November of 1943. Earl finished the eighth grade at the one room Munger School, graduating in 1944. He attended Hayward High, graduating in 1948, and was a member of the original football team when that program started in 1946. At the time of the Korean War, Earl joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in active duty from 1952 to 1954, then served with the reserves until being honorably discharged on February 20, 1960.
Earl was self employed as a Wisconsin Licensed Master Plumber for forty-seven years. In addition to his plumbing business, he owned and operated a small trucking company and a building material supply business, all of which were successful. He had logged over four million miles of accident-free driving. His combined pleasure and business travels had Earl familiar with all fifty states, and numerous destinations in Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas. Earl never married.
He is survived by his sister, Ruth Smith of Pompano Beach, Florida.
In addition to his parents, Earl is preceded in death by his sister, Dolores Wheaton, formerly of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Hayward Funeral Home, 15571 W. County Highway B, in Hayward, WI.
Earl will be laid to rest next to his father, in the military section of Coeur d’Alene Memorial Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
In lieu of flowers or monetary contributions, Earl would prefer the planting of bushes, shrubs, and/or trees, especially the species that bear nuts or fruit to benefit wildlife and future generations of mankind.
