Doug graduated from Superior Central High School in 1960 and earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Michigan Tech University. Doug was a curler and outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, elk hunting in Colorado and pheasant hunting.
Before retirement he and Carol moved to “God’s country,” their log cabin on Whitefish Lake in Wascott. He liked to keep his lawn plush and the driveway clear of snow. He was a Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed his pool league. He was active in local politics, being on Superior City Council and the Wascott Town Board. Doug loved to cook with his specialties being spaghetti, chop suey and ribs. Doug had a way of fixing machinery and was a capable handyman, willing to come to the aid of anyone who needed some help.
