Doris H. (Storm) Wichert

Doris H. Wichert, age 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 15, 2023 at her residence in Hayward, WI.  She was born on September 17, 1925 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Clement and Elizabeth (Kluth) Storm.  She was united in marriage to Karl Wichert on September 24, 1949 in Milwaukee, WI.

Doris was affectionately called “Granny” and was always excited to get pictures of her great grandkids which she proudly displayed.  She was an excellent cook, and everyone loved Granny’s cheesecake.  She enjoyed knitting, especially slippers for her family and friends.  Doris was an avid golfer and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badger football, and Sweet Sixteen College Basketball.  She enjoyed listening to live music and entertainment, dancing with her husband and trips to the casino to play nickel Deuces Wild.  Doris loved living in the Northwoods and her place on Round Lake watching the deer, loons, ducks and eagles.   Doris was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of the St. Joseph Parish in Hayward.

She is survived by her children, Carol (David) Ackley of Hayward, WI and Tom (Pat) Wichert of Milwaukee, WI; four grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Karl Wichert; and her cousin, Barbara Fossum.

A Mass will be offered in memory of Doris at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Interment will be held privately.
