Donald Shabert, age 72, a longtime resident of Superior, passed away peacefully at Villa Marina on July 8, 2026.
Donald Wayne Shabert was born on January 1, 1954, to Earl and Ruth (Hoglund) Shabert in Grand Forks, North Dakota. At the age of 22, he and his family moved to Superior. Don found work with the Railroad, Balcum Appliance, and also in sales at Walmart. Don loved being a Balloonologist, going by the name of Dakota Don. He enjoyed making balloon animals for children, no matter how long the line was. Don also liked collecting puppets, a shared this interest and talent with his great niece Brynn.
Don is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Ruth Shabert.
Don is survived by his brothers Jim (Robin) Shabert, David (Barb) Shabert, 2 nephews
Mike (Melissa), and Brian (Milena), and his great niece Brynn, who was very special to him.
There will be a celebration of Don’s life on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Aces on 29th in Superior, from 3-6pm.
A graveside service will be held in Grand Forks at a later date.
