Donald E Salmen

Donald Salmen, age 95, a resident of Solon Springs, died on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Aspirus St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota.

Donald was born on December 11, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois.   He was married to his wife Joan Murphy Salmen for 46 years, who sadly passed away on February 26, 20000. 

Donald is survived by his children Steve, Laurie, Doug and Mick, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren with 3 expected soon!

He was in no pain and about to see mom again. He was a highly respected person, husband, father and grandfather. He was not a spiritual man but valued what he saw and what he was given and treated people with respect.

So, we are happy for him. The pain is ours for the loss. He was one of the finest men we ever knew and a father we dearly respected. He can pass with dignity, and has, the loss again is ours but never forgotten. 

A Celebration of Life will be held this coming spring or summer of 2026 in Solon Springs.
