Donald Engbertson Obituary

Donald N. Engbertson, age 63, of the town of Crystal, WI, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Shell Lake Health Care Center.

Donald was born March 31, 1961, the son of Irvin and Joy (Kruger) Engbertson. Don Spent his young years working as a pulp cutter before moving on to Jonjak Cranberry Farms. Don had the knack to fix just about anything with what he had at hand.  He operated heavy machinery across North Dakota and worked for Bluse Excavating.  Don loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and going to the races.  He was an exceptional cook who was always ready with his trusty iron skillet to whip up a delicious meal, whether on a cold day out ice fishing or at a lively gathering. His steaks were legendary, and he always knew the best spot to find fried chicken.  Don will be remembered for his willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Don is survived by two siblings, Dave (Lisa Scott) Engbertson of Fifield, WI, Linda Engbertson of Crystal, WI, brother-in-law, Ken Zimmerman of Crystal, WI; four nephews, Teddy (Marlene) Engbertson, Carl Engbertson, Andy Engbertson and Kris (Autumn) Zimmerman; and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lu Zimmerman; and two nephews, Shawn Engbertson and Matthew Zimmerman.

Don’s life will be celebrated with an outdoor potluck on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 12:00 PM, at Dave’s Camp on County HWY A&M. If you are able, please bring your own seating, a dish to pass, and a memory to share!
