Dean Barrett Obituary

Dean Patrick Barrett, age 75, of Trego, Wisconsin passed away May 22, 2025 at Spooner Health Hospital surrounded by family.

Dean was born July 7, 1949 in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, the Son of Patrick and Lorraine Barrett. He attended a two room grade school in Trego and graduated from Spooner High School in 1967. He attended UW River Falls before deciding that he wanted to expand the family farm with his Father and Brother. He married Nancy Crandell on July 7, 1973 and the couple joyously welcomed Son Michael and Daughter Carrie.

Dean owned TSU South in River Falls, Wisconsin, but he really wanted to return to Trego where he worked for Terry Leckel Trucking. Dean’s passion was farming and he often said he worked so he could farm. He enjoyed music, reading historical and farm publications, and going for long drives in the Country.  Dean was also known as the family and Trego Township historian. A master storyteller, he loved spending hours talking to everyone and anyone. He was happiest being outdoors, hunting in Wisconsin and biking with the guys in Wintergreen Estates in Texas. He enjoyed serving spaghetti dinners at Dove Healthcare and spending time with family and friends.

Dean is survived by his Wife Nancy, Son Michael (Wendy Morgan) of Trego, Wisconsin, Daughter Carrie of Crystal, Minnesota, Grandson Korbin of Osceola, Wisconsin, and Granddaughters Zoe and Ava of Trego, Wisconsin. He is also survived by Sisters Kaye Neuenfeldt (Tim Haas), Susan Stephens (Bob), Lisa Barrett, and Brother Robert (Kathy), numerous extended family members, and his church family at St. Francis De Sales in Spooner, Wisconsin.

Interment will be at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Trego, Wisconsin with a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the Town of Trego Park from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
