David Wermter Obituary

David Michael Wermter passed away on June 7th of 2026. He spent the week preceding his death surrounded by family, friends, and neighbors. He was a Navy veteran, was a man of God, and was sober for over 40 years. Although he had a tough demeanor, he adored his loved ones, his garden, nature, and the wildlife around him. He became a sanctuary for turkeys, bears, cats, venomous shrews, and could call birds and deer from the woods even in the dead of winter. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off of his back and the decorations off of his walls if he thought it would make you happy. He would always be sure to ask if you ate, and would keep sweets stocked all summer long when his grandchildren would stay with him. He worked hard and loved harder, and he changed countless lives for the better.

David is survived by daughters Billie Jo Gorsuch (Mark), and Della Cleve (Jason), grandchildren Logan, Taylor (Michael), and NoraLee, great-granddaughter Evelyn, siblings Claudia Nelson (Ed), Sharon Law, Greg Wermter (Patti), Becky Wolden, Tim Wermter (Lea), and Jeff Wermter.

He is preceded in death by ex wives Della (Klindt) and Diane (Hietala), parents Alfred and Doris Wermter, brothers Ronald and Brett Wermter, and brothers in law Ralph Law and Michael Beelby, all of Douglas County.
